Grade: V A, B and VII-A, B, VIII A
Students of Grade 5 A, B and 7A, B, 8 A were introduced to the concept of Demonetisation through the CAS Presentation scheduled on 2nd, 14th and 21st of August 2017. The students connected well to the topic as they already had some previous knowledge about Demonetisation. They understood what currency is, what kinds of currency are available in our country and the history behind demonetisation. It was an eye opening presentation for Grade 5 because they were not aware of the shocking news that hit the country. They were able to identify the new that have replaced with the old one i.e. 500 and 1000 Rupees notes. A group discussion on demonetisation was held in which children came up with a lot of information on intention of controlling black money, combatting the financing of terrorism, and curbing the circulation of counterfeit currency in the economy.
Students were also educated on “Will Demonetisation slow down India’s growth”. Finally they were able to analyse that India is cash based economy and demonetization will temporarily decrease liquidity in this economy. Decreased liquidity will lead to decreased demand which will result in decreased productivity causing a slowdown in consumer market. Even after the end of the presentation children had a lot of questions. It showed their interest towards money handling.
The presentation on Demonetisation created awareness among the students.
