Gift of Life: Blood Donation Camp’16
“If you donate money, you give food; if you donate blood, you give life”
Blood donation is one of the most significant contributions that a person can make towards the society. It is not harmful for an adult person to donate blood. The body of the donor can regenerate the blood within few days. It poses no threat to the metabolism of the body. Transfusion of blood and blood products helps save millions of lives every year. It can help patients suffering from life-threatening conditions live longer and with higher quality of life, and supports complex medical and surgical procedures.
Every year on 14 th of June, countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day (WBDD). The event, established in 2004, serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products, and to thank blood donors for their voluntary, life-saving gifts of blood.
Queen Mira International School tied up with Meenakshi Mission Hospital had organized a Blood Donation Campaign in the School premises on 11th June 2016 at 9.30 AM. Prior to this, a consent form along with the pamphlet was issued to the parents through their wards in which the significance of World Blood Donor Day Celebration was mentioned. The propitious day of blood donation started at 09.30 am. We had around 28 donors who had participated in this noble donation.
Blood donation is our human duty. Our body does not get affected if we donate blood. The body can repair the loss within a few days. So we must come forward to donate blood as it can make sure the return of a dying man again into the light of life.
