A visit to the historical monuments in Madurai

Field Trip to Thirumalai Naicker Mahal and Gandhi Museum.

The Trip to the historical places in Madurai on 24.9.2016 was a splendid experience for the grade 3 Students. 50 Students of grade 3 were accompanied by Ms.Sandhiya, Ms.Praveena, Ms.Gayathri, Ms.Mubeen and Ms.Akilamba. The children were filled with enthusiasm to visit these places. The first place of visit was Thirumalai Naicker Mahal which was built in 1636 by the King Thirumalai Naicker as his palace and ruled it for about 75 years. Our children were astonished looking at the magnificence of the palace, architecture and the 248 Pillars standing 58 feet high.

The second place of visit was Gandhi Museum, which is one among the five memorial museums in India. The spirit of patriotism was instilled in the students’ mind by looking at the pictorial representation of freedom fighters and by knowing their history. Children also had a chance to view the blood stained Dhoti of Mahatma Gandhiji which he was wearing when he was shot dead.

They also had a look at the museum and came to know about the cultural heritage of Madurai. They enjoyed the trip and it was a very informative and interesting one.
