Following the successful stride, The Little Emperors(TLE)- an interschool event exclusively for the kindergarteners was conducted with grandeur for the 3rd consecutive year which was witnessed by the overwhelming participation of 90 schools including a participant from St.Nicholas Church Pre School, London.

The dawn of the day was joyful and anxious for the graders of 6, 7 and 8 as it was the day of visit to Vaigai dam, 50kms away from Madurai. The trip was organized as a part of CIS activity.

VIJAYADASAMI CELEBRATION – SEPTEMBER 30
Vibrant sunshine and fresh air rendered an auspicious and energetic start. Vijayadasmi is a kick start to all activities in the Gods name. QMIS firmly believes in the omnipresent divine which supports hard work and facilitates success. The function started with a Kalash Pooja performed by a pandit. Children and Parents along with teachers added the flowers on kalasam after duly invoking the gods with recital of slokas.

KAMAK DUMB SCHOOL VIST – G2 – SEPTEMBER 17
“Love grows by sharing” The thought of sharing needs to be inculcated in the young minds. This year the children were taken to see those “Who hear with their eyes”, the God gifted children. Our graders 2 were taken to the YMCA KAMAK Dumb School on 08.09.17. The day started with loads of love and contributions from our School. After reaching the place we divided our children into 5 groups to see the children who are differently blessed. Demo class was given by the faculty about how they listen things. To increase the voice decibel they took some practical classes.
OLD AGE HOME VIST – G1 – SEPTEMBER 17
“Service to people is to service to God” Our graders 1 took the above quote and went for a trip to Madurai corporation home for old age and needy people. We educated children on the values of respect before and on the day of the trip. They were also requested to bring in their contributions for them. On 09.09.17 they started from school by 10.30am and reached the place around 11.00am. After reaching there they spend significant time with them .We could witness the happiness and joy in them when their long wait for love came true. We could understand their love for us with the tears in their eyes.

The great day started with the warm welcome in the reception for all the teachers, followed by the assembly session. KIDDI FEST VICTORY CELEBRATION – AUGUST 24
“Happiness adds and multiplies as we divide it with others.” It is said gratitude starts a chain reaction to happiness. We at QMIS wanted to share the happiness of our victory at Kiddi Fest- an Inter school Competition conducted by Radio Mirchi and Pothys with those who were behind this victory. The students who had participated in the Kiddi Fest competition along with their parents were invited for a celebration time on 24th Of August at 6.00 Pm in the school premises.
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION – AUGUST 14
“The greatest gifts you can give your children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.” The 71st year of Independence was celebrated at Queen Mira International School on 14.08.17 with style and grandeur. Students of Grades 3 and above assembled for the historical celebration. Ms.Sujatha Gupthan welcomed the gathering. Mr.Abinath Chandran along with Ms.Sujatha Gupthan paid a floral tribute to Sri Aurobindo, Mother Mira and Mrs.Jhansi Chandran. Mr.Abinath Chandran delivered his maiden Presidential Speech.
CHILD SAFETY – KG-G5-AUGUST 02
“Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.” Children of Grades 10 to 12 attended the Path session held on 02.08.17 at the Music Studio. The guest speaker of the day was Mr. A. Mayil Vaganan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Madurai District. There was an air of excitement in the room as Mr. Mayil Vaganan shared his experiences and valuable thoughts. He encouraged the children to identify their goals and focus on it. He insisted on the need to set one’s goal and communicate the same to parents. He shared with the children the need to maintain a positive attitude, upgrade their knowledge and skills and confront challenges and fears. He was totally realistic and encouraged the children to faces obstacles as challenges. Children posed many interesting questions to him. He answered them patiently and positively. The floor was bubbling with Positive energy. The session was truly an inspiring one.
VISIT TO A HAND-LOOM HOUSE - GRADE 1 : JULY 21
QMIS did give our grade 1 children a wonderful opportunity to recite these rhymes in the most appropriate place (ie) the Handloom house. Our little ones were ready to explore the weaving unit. They were taken to Mangal Print, run by Mr Saravana Kumar which is located at sellur on 21.07.17. A warm welcome was given to our kidos by him and his unit members. The children were eager to have an experiential learning as they were already equipped with enough knowledge about weaving and weavers in the classes.
VISIT TO A BANK - GRADE 2 : JULY 21
In order to inculcate the art of saving money, grade II was taken to IDBI bank, situated in By pass road on 21st of July, 2017. Children started from School with great enthusiasm to learn all about banking and saving. And in order to heed to their excitement, the Bank Manager herself, in spite of her busy schedule spent her valuable time in explaining about the Pay in challan, cheque and cash counting machine. Children also cleared their doubts regarding banking. The bank people were surprised to hear our children talk about CDM and ATM. They also did share their knowledge on using Debit cards for purchase.
Coffee Eve with Mr.Sasi Mohan : Awareness on Child Safety : July 30
“Coffee evening” is yet another initiative taken by the QMIS Management to create awareness on Child Safety. Parents of Graders 6 to 12 were invited to attend the session. The session commenced at 04.30 pm on 30.07.17 (Saturday).The guest speaker of the day was Mr. Sasi Mohan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Madurai District. He talked about the rights of a child and the importance of training and guiding them. He shared his experiences which made the session a lively one.
Chrysalis Orientation : July 22
QMIS is not only building units and lessons, also building cultures within our classrooms. In addition to the core academic content that is to be mastered by students, the standards also call for an integration of higher level thinking skills. The thinking competencies required by students include critical thinking, reasoning, communication, and collaboration. Curriculum and assessments are focused around these competencies as well. Chrysalis curriculum which has been followed for Grade 4 & 5 provides cognitive and social skills that will prepare them to deal with the complexities in our world. Researchers have shown that parental involvement is the most important factor in a student’s success and the school strongly believes that communication is one that strengthens any relationship. Therefore QMIS takes utmost care in communicating the progress of each child on a regular basis to the parents.
STAFF TRAINING by Ms.Madhuvizhi : June 30
“BEING AT YOUR BEST.” A workshop that helps teachers to come out with their best was held in QMIS premises on 30th June. The session started in a fine afternoon at 01:30 pm. Ms. Madhuvizhli started interestingly by asking teachers to recollect what was done in the previous day. All the teachers were engrossed themselves in recapitulating the previous day work. Then she asked teachers to write a positive comment about the members in the peer group, which was really an interesting activity.
Fire Safety and Disaster Management : July 11
Tuesday the 11th July 2017 will be an unforgettable day for the students of grades 6-12 and the staff members in a unique way. That is when they were given simulated training on fire safety and disaster management as Safety doesn’t happen by accident. As per the safety operating systems of the international safety manual, periodical safety drills play an important role in inculcating right actions rather than reactions during disasters and emergency situations.
First Aid & Safety : July 3
“Safety First and Safety Always” To imbibe this value in the minds of students as well as staff both academics and non academics, a First Aid training workshop was conducted on 03.07.2017. The work shop started by 10 am and went on till 4pm. Mr Siluvai Mani and Jawahar Lal from St. John Ambulance association, a worldwide organization and the sister concern of Red Cross did empower the children on the topic “First Aid”.

“New Avenue, New Path” The word “New” captivates the mind of both old & new, young generation. A new “Schooler app orientation” program was introduced by QMIS in its premises for the benefit of the parents on 01.07.17. A group of 62 parents thronged the premises of QMIS in the morning. The usage and benefits of this new application was clearly explained by our Faculty members Ms Shalini, Ms Fathima, Ms Anita, Ms Archana, Ms Shajitha and Mr Raja.

As an initiative to sharpen up the leadership qualities in a student, QMIS selects a Prefectorial body every year. Students from Grade 8, 9 & 11 were allowed to nominate themselves for the post of Head boy, Head Girl, House Captains and Vice – Captains. The prefectorial selection panel had conducted a series of activities like spot talks, situational solutions and team building activities, through which the contestant’s communication skills, problem solving skills, planning and execution skills were assessed.

“A Single pint can save three lives; a single gesture can create a million smiles.” Every day blood transfusions take place that saves lives of many people all over the World. Donating blood is good for the health of donors as well as those who need it. It is important to know that human blood cannot be manufactured, people are the only source of it and that is why it is important to donate blood and help those in need.

They are the pillars of the society.” We at Queen Mira International School believe that such pillars should be strengthened. So every year there are many training sessions for the teachers, right from academics to motivational sessions. As a part of this year’s training session, on 10th of June, teachers were briefed upon the Vision and Mission of the school by the Principal Ms Sujatha Guptan. Knowing the vision of the school is very much essential for a teacher as vision without action is merely a dream.
Q’s Sports Complex was inaugurated on Day 1 of Sangamam by Mr. Saumil Majmudar on 10.01.17. The Management along with Q’s Physical Education Department had planned for 3 nights of FLOODLIGHT matches from 08.05.17 to 10.05.17.
Summer Splash II, the 10 days of fun and enjoyment started on May 1st 2017and went on till 10th of May. A Tribute to Dr.J.Jayalalitha
From a small girl of orthodox Brahmin Iyengar family to the Iron Lady of Tamil Nadu, her journey was not bed of Roses, but she rose to great heights having only her determination and courage as her companion. She was a woman of words and actions. Her words did earn a great respect as she had a command over her words. She was a woman of beauty and knowledge. Her loss is one which has created a huge vacuum in the heart of many.

Parent Teacher's Conference
The most overwhelming key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of Parents. We at QMIS strongly feel that parents and teachers should go hand in hand for molding the child in a better way. One such platform where the teachers and parents get to discuss about the child’s growth is the Parent Teachers’ Conference. The more and more parents involve themselves, the children would feel motivated.
GRADE-1 & 2 VISIT TO THE SUPER MARKET
Young or old, people always enjoy shopping. To enjoy independency in shopping, we QMIS decided to take the grade1 and 2 children to Reliance Super Market on 26th of November.
This was to make the children understand the value of money and to purchase what they like. The journey started sharp at 10.30 am. On the way the children were so excited and were with different queries as to what they can buy from the money brought?, Will the shopkeeper help them in buying the things? etc
The Little Emperors Season 2 Program Report
Queen Mira International School hosted “The Little Emperors Season 2”, an interschool KG event with all its pride for the innovative toddlers of the city, successfully for the second consecutive year on the 19th of November, 2016 in
the school premises.
The dawn of November 19, 2016 was a red carpet welcome for all the members of QMIS as the entire school was ready for welcoming the kindergarteners who confidently stepped into the campus with the fortitude of readiness to face their first competition in life’s race.
A Visit to Decathlon
Healthy day starts with a healthy body and a healthy mind. QMIS strongly believes in the practice of regular exercises. To inculcate the need of regular exercise through various sports, children from grade 3 to grade 7 visited Decathlon sports fest in Othakkadai, Madurai on 22nd of October. Navrathri and Vijayadhasami celebration
We at QMIS organized Navrathri celebration with Gaiety and Grandeur which did come to an end with the Vidyaramba and Aksharabhyasam on 11th October.
The ultimatum of the celebration is to propitiate Shakthi, the Goddess of power, to bestow upon men and women all wealth lusciousness, prosperity, knowledge and all other potent powers.
A visit to the historical monuments in Madurai
Field Trip to Thirumalai Naicker Mahal and Gandhi Museum.
The Trip to the historical places in Madurai on 24.9.2016 was a splendid experience for the grade 3 Students. 50 Students of grade 3 were accompanied by Ms.Sandhiya, Ms.Praveena, Ms.Gayathri, Ms.Mubeen and Ms.Akilamba. The children were filled with enthusiasm to visit these places. The first place of visit was Thirumalai Naicker Mahal which was built in 1636 by the King Thirumalai Naicker as his palace and ruled it for about 75 years. Our children were astonished looking at the magnificence of the palace, architecture and the 248 Pillars standing 58 feet high.

A Unique initiative by the QMIS Team to explore and fix the independency of Children
“The word of Mouth” about the slumber party happening at QMIS, has created a wave among the children. This curiosity of attending this party was evidently seen from grade I children. In order to make them experience this independency and enjoyment, Slumber Bash was organised for grade I children on 17th of September.

To make such successful human beings, we at QMIS plan for slumber bash, where we train the child to be independent. Whatever concept the child grasps, it stays in their mind forever. So the feeling of Independency was taught to them so that they grow up as flourishing individuals.
Teachers’ Day Celebration

On account of Teachers’ Day, a grand celebration took place on the 10th of September to make the teachers feel they are special and as a note of gratitude. This was organised by grade 11 students. The event marked its beginning with an invocation to God.

Independence Day Celebration
“Freedom in the Mind, Faith in our words, Pride in our hearts and memories in our souls” , the 70 th year of Independence was celebrated at Queen Mira International School on 13.08.16 with style and Grandeur. Mr. R. Gurusamy, Deputy Superintendent of Police was the Chief Guest of honour. He graced the occasion with his valuable presence amidst his busy schedule. Mr. Gurusamy, DSP, Mr. C. Chandran, the Chairman of the school, Mr. Abinath Chandran, the Director and Ms. Sujatha, the Principal paid floral tribute to Sri Aurobindo, Mother Mira and Mrs. Jhansi Rani Chandran, Vice Chairman.
A Visit to the Handloom House

The very word “Handloom” brings to our mind the image of our Father of Nation spinning the yarn. This industry has come a long way since then. In order to bring in awareness about this sector, which is the largest in terms of employment and meager in terms of monetary benefits, Grades 1 and 2 were taken on a field trip on 16.07.16 to Munichalai.

Grade 10 Orientation Report

On the 18th of June 2016 Team QMIS organized an Academic Orientation session for the parents of grade 10. The session commenced with a prayer song followed by which our Principal, Ms. Sujatha Guptan welcomed the gathering. Ms. Sujatha happily announced the co-operation, involvement and dedication rendered by her team of teachers in bringing an average of 8.6 CGPA in the 2015-2016 batch of grade X.
Gift of Life: Blood Donation Camp’16
“If you donate money, you give food; if you donate blood, you give life”
Blood donation is one of the most significant contributions that a person can make towards the society. It is not harmful for an adult person to donate blood. The body of the donor can regenerate the blood within few days. It poses no threat to the metabolism of the body. Transfusion of blood and blood products helps save millions of lives every year. It can help patients suffering from life-threatening conditions live longer and with higher quality of life, and supports complex medical and surgical procedures.
Summer Splash 2016
A week of summer camp is such a valuable experience for everyone. At QMIS, we view each day as a big deposit into the account of a child’s personal development, renewal and refreshment.
With this in view, “Summer Splash” was organised at our school premises for the students of KG2 to Grade 6 between 2 May and 12 May, 2016.

Parent Teacher Conference Report

A special day for any child would be the day when the child receives appreciation from the teachers in front of the parents. One such occasion where the children as well as the parents are made to feel proud is the Parent Teacher Conference.

In Continuation with TLE (The Little Emperors), as per the request of most of the Play Group Schools, the management of QMIS had arranged for a Play Group Teachers' Seminar on Saturday, 26th March 2016. It was a Day-Long Work shop that was efficiently handled by Ms. Sujatha Gupthan, the Principal, Ms. Kalpana Karthik , the Asst. Vice Principal and Ms. Aysha Siddhika , the Coordinator.

As a part of education towards blooming entrepreneurs and leaders the children of grades 4 and 5 had a visit to the Aavin Industry in Madurai on the 13th of February 2016, with the objective of educating them on the concept of small scale industries and the large scale industries, milk products and the process of milk production.

The session began with a pious prayer song followed by a welcome address delivered by our Principal Ms.Sujatha Guptan
Staff Dinner Report
The Management of Queen Mira International School believes that “What really make an organization great are the people.” They have always been modest in giving the credit of success to the team, students and parents. Amidst the hectic schedules of the academic sessions it rightly struck the mind of the Management of QMIS to keep their staff amused with some mind boggling entertainment and a luscious treat for the taste buds.
It was on the 25th of January 2016 that a fantastic evening of Staff Dinner 2016 was organized in the school premises. The event started with a warm Welcome Address by our Human Resources Manager Ms Sheeba followed by a cordial welcome by our Principal Ms Sujatha Guptan. The Managing Director, Mr Abinath Chandran had also welcomed the gathering with his own tips for the team. We then had an enlightening speech given by our Chairman, Dr C.Chandran.

Baking is a hands-on learning experience and a great way for kids to express themselves and enjoy their creations. Baking will stimulate the child’s senses of sight, taste, smell and texture. As a part of an experiential and essential teaching our budding bakers of grades 1 & 2 visited Puppy’s Bakery on Friday 8th January 2016.
Mom and Me Season 2
“Always my MOTHER , Forever My FRIEND”
Mom & Me Season 2 was celebrated with all its opulence and elegance on the 23rd of January, 2016 for the Mighty Moms and Charming children of the Primary Level (Grades 1 & 2). The delighted day began with a pious prayer song “God Will Make A Way …..” sung by the sweet chirpies of grades 3, 4 & 5. The gathering was welcomed by our Principal – Ms.Sujatha Guptan and the mothers were ready for their most treasured hours they were going to spend with their most prized possessions.
Pongal means boiling of rice in a pot. It is an authentic harvest festival celebrated in Tamil Nadu and the other southern states. Queen Mira had always welcomed diversified cultures and traditions with a great pleasure and has always been a great podium of cultures, educating the students on reviving the traditions and importance of celebrating Festivals.

Going by these words, QMIS always takes pride in celebrating festivals.
Christmas is not only celebration, but the season for kindling the fire of hospitality in the hall and the genial flame of charity in the heart. In order to spread Joy and happiness, the students of grade 10 organized the Christmas celebration on 23rd of December. The event started with a short introduction and interaction with the students on Christmas and the story behind it.
Sangamam - 2015-16
Sangamam 15 –’16 – an amalgamation of arts….
Queen Mira International School celebrated its 5th Annual Day celebration on the 18th and 19th of December, 2015 with all its uniqueness and it turned out to be yet another victorious episode in QMIS’ history. The two days programme noticeably manifested the harmony that prevailed within the mighty management, the passionate principal, the tempestuous teachers and the charming and challenging students.
The Little Emperors - innovative rulers
November 21: Madurai, Queen Mira International School took up a celebratory whereabouts on the dawn and the campus was filled with the buzzing sounds of the little and innovative bees who were ready to compete with their counterpart. It was “The Little Emperors” event, where Kindergarten children of 54 schools in and around the temple town displayed a zealous performance and awestruck the audience. The event partnered with The Hindu & Team Chrysalis lured in an audience crowd of around 1500 members. The energetic and the responsible mentors were on their toes encouraging their little wards. The delightful day gave its kick off with the pious prayer song followed by a warming welcome dance of the host school that added beauty to the place . The humble inauguration began with the lighting of the kuthuvizhaku by the Parent representatives of the QMIS school.
Parent Teacher Conference 1 Phase 2
A very prime activity during every academic year of a school is Parent Teacher Conference. Studies have broadly proven that regular parent teacher conferences promote the Personal, Positive and Productive development of a child. This not only helps the child but also the parent in effective parenting. Queen Mira had conducted PTC1 Phase 2 for the Grades 2,3,6,7,9 & 10. Through this Parent teacher Conference the objective of the teachers communicating to the parents about their merits, areas to be improved and the appreciations was positively done.

Researches have shown that parental involvement is the most important factor in a student’s success in school. We at Queen Mira International School always have our doors open for the parents. As it is the onset of Term II, it is the right time for the teachers and the parents to find out where exactly their child is and where his/her focus should be for the next term.

Education is an important aspect of a culture. Most religions acknowledge this and make special provisions for the commencement of education. However understanding these ceremonies and performing the same with its real objective, QMIS always takes the eminent stand. The spiritual colour was added to the school on 22.10.15 as the Vijayadasami Pooja was performed with the tag of “Vidhyarambam” and followed by which “Akshara byasam “ ceremony was performed by the kindergarteners with their family members.
