Independence Day Celebration 15th August, 2012
We at QMIS believe in inculcating the spirit of unity and freedom in the minds of our young children and teach them to enjoy freedom with responsibility. Our struggle for freedom is just not a part of history; it gave us roots and identity. Each of us here take pride that our nation has grown in leaps and bounds into one of the leading global economies while keeping the culture, traditions and values intact. Keeping this in mind, we chose "My India, My Pride" to be the theme for the 65th Independence Day celebration.
The day dawned with children and grownups alike teeming with enthusiasm at the campus to share the joy of independence. The function started with the hoisting of our National flag by the Chief Guest Mr. Kumar (Deputy Superintendent of Police, Usilampatti Range). Our patron Dr. Chandran, Chairman of Guruji educational trust felicitated the Chief Guest. The address by the Chief Guest Mr. Kumar reminded the parents that "the children have come through them and not from them" which gave an insight to the parents that children have their dreams to be dreamt without the parents' interference. Our Chairman Dr.Chandran in his inspiring speech highlighted the struggle for freedom by our forefathers and the need to follow their ideals and fulfill their vision for a dynamic and prosperous India.
The much awaited cultural events began with the vibrant and colorful dance by the KG offsprings depicting the Indian armed forces and saluting the soldiers who work tirelessly safeguarding our sovereignty. The main event of the day was the skit based on our theme which portrayed the essence of freedom, the struggle to attain it and the need to sustain it. For the generations who have only heard of the struggle for independence, it was awesome to see the characters of our brave leaders like "Vanchinathan" and "Saheed Udham Singh" brought alive by our children. The skit also called the youth of India to take active part in the political process and the armed forces to take India to greater heights. The curtains were brought down with the vote of thanks and patriotic revelation of our national anthem.
